The Gulch

The Gulch is an upscale and hip residential area home to a great food and shopping scene.
"This is also a great place to browse urban-chic looks or buy souvenirs for friends, as boutiques and shops abound. The shopping in the Gulch has a distinctly metropolitan feel, hosting big-name clothiers like Urban Outfitters and Patagonia alongside local spots like Rustler Hat Co. and Paddywax Candle Bar." -

"Named for the physical gulch that houses the railroad tracks that ran through this area, this is perhaps Nashville's most modern neighborhood in terms of construction, with high rises and dense city living combined with retail space. It is within walking distance to downtown, SoBro, and Midtown, but chockfull of its own attractions, primarily shopping-, eating- and drinking-oriented (but what else do you need?)." -

East Nashville

East Nashville is a hip area home to great shopping, nightlife, and Nashville's gayborhood along Center St.
"When it comes to a night out, East Nashville is where the hip locals go. This expansive neighborhood has everything from dive bars to refined cocktail lounges to music venues to late-night restaurants – the biggest problem you’ll have is deciding how to fit it all in." -
Lonely Planet
"This large neighborhood just east of Downtown is home to stylish vintage boutiques and purveyors of handcrafted goods, not to mention many of the tastiest chef-owned restaurants and the best tiny watering holes." -
Time Out
"Across the Cumberland River from downtown is the large, eclectic East Nashville neighborhood with a creative vibe that attracts many musicians and artists. Many homes date back to the early 1900s, and many of the city’s best restaurants are here." -

Downtown

Downtown Nashville is a hip area with great food, nightlife, and shopping, and it is close to city landmarks.
"Nashville’s downtown is a raucous place packed with folks flocking to famous Broadway watering holes, events at Bridgestone Arena, and concerts at the Ryman Auditorium and Ascend Amphitheater. Its frenetic energy isn’t for everyone, but it’s the place to be if you’re looking to down some (okay, lots of) drinks and catch some country tunes all within a walkable radius." -
Lonely Planet
"Downtown is Nashville’s economic and tourism hub, as well as the geographic center and home to Lower Broad. This is where you’ll find the honky-tonks, belting out Western swing music almost any hour of the day. But this area isn't just for partiers; in addition to some of the biggest attractions, Downtown is home to swanky hotels, restaurants, and enviable views of the Cumberland River." -

Germantown

Germantown is a serene residential area with a fantastic food scene.
"Located just north of downtown, Germantown is a cozy corner of Nashville that packs a big cultural punch. The neighborhood itself makes for an aesthetically pleasing walk thanks to a large number of historic homes and cobblestone sidewalks – Germantown was actually the city’s first residential subdivision – and it’s also home to some of the city’s best restaurants." -
Lonely Planet
"Germantown is known for having some of the city’s best restaurants (City House, Henrietta Red, Rolf & Daughters) as well as shops, bars, and breweries." -

Music Row

Music Row is an upscale residential area home to many landmarks of the city and the music industry.
"Music Row is where the business of Nashville gets done. Two parallel streets (connected by a roundabout sporting the joyful Musica sculpture) are lined with former houses converted into music studios and office towers. Scattered between these music-industry essentials are places to eat, drink, listen to music, and sleep." -
Time Out
"With record companies, recording studios, music publishers and related organizations as well as the Historic RCA Studio B, Music Row stands as the center of Nashville's storied music industry. In addition to the sites where musical history was made, this area southwest of downtown also has plenty of eateries and shops." -
